Seth and Christin continue to live in White Bear Lake, MN and have managed the growth of their kids through some of the most challenging years of growing up. Seth continues to be employed by the owner of a Midas Automotive franchise that now has multiple locations throughout the Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Mankato, and Mason City, Iowa.
Seth began as a technician with Midas 26 years ago and has now risen to the position of Vice President of the company. Though biased, it is my opinion that he holds the whole company together in that he does anything that needs to be done—planning for and equipping new stores, overseeing all computer aspects of the company, involvement with personnel issues, monitoring the security of all locations, and trouble shooting whatever issue may come up to name a few. I am amazed at the variety of skills he has developed to meet the many situations he faces, and all done with level headed steadiness.
Christin continues to be a busy wife and mother with occasional shifts working as an occupational therapist at North Memorial Medical Center. She has paid her dues as a typical “soccer Mom” transporting their kids to sporting events, music lessons, church activities, school activities and to all the other places a busy family must go. She’s always been one for getting good conversations going by asking questions that get people thinking. Having such conversations while sitting around a fire up at the cabin is one of her favorite activities.
Both Seth and Christin have made a commitment to provide each of their kids with a Christian education at high quality schools for which I am very grateful.
Noah attended Concordia Academy and was involved in the music and drama programs there. During his senior year he was selected for the lead role of Buddy in their production of “Elf, the Musical”. I couldn’t have been more proud of how well he did in such an important role. He graduated in 2024 and, though accepted at both Northwestern and Bethel, decided to check out other work possibilities while going to school on the side. He has been fortunate to get a position leading a new department within Seth’s company that allow him to use his considerable computer skills. He is in charge of recalibrating vehicles that have been damaged—everything from a cracked windshield to being in an accident—so that they can return to service. The computer equipment needed to accomplish these repairs is quite complicated and Noah is finding his job to be quite rewarding. His seemingly natural skills as a people person make him perfect for talking with body shop vendors and individuals needing this recalibration done.
Caleb is currently a junior at Concordia Academy where he is involved in a variety of activities. He is a member of His People, a choral performing group made up of the best voices from the school choir. He is also out for baseball again this year with the hopes of earning a spot on the varsity team. A visit to Caleb’s room at their home will give you a real feeling of what a computer expert’s man cave would be like. Multiple screens, computers that he built, and equipment for projecting movies on the wall are all things that can be found there. Caleb has yet to decide what he will do after graduation, but is in the process of visiting various colleges in the area.
Luke is currently an 8th grader at North Heights Christian Academy. At 6’3” he is hard to miss were you to visit his school. He has been on their basketball team the past couple of years and showed marked improvement in his game this year thanks to the added time he put in working out at the local Lifetime Fitness. This year he unfortunately received a concussion during the final game of the season and that resulted in him missing over two weeks of school. Fortunately those symptoms have cleared up and he is back to his usual activities. Among other things, he has taken an interest in WWII facts and memorabilia. We found some of my Dad’s military things such as a uniform, helmet, and pictures that Luke now has decorating his room. He is looking forward to following in his brothers’ footsteps and enrolling as a freshman at Concordia Academy this fall.
Being that I have only one granddaughter, I can get away with calling Hannah my favorite granddaughter and that she surely is. She is a 6th grader at North Heights Christian Academy where she is very involved with a variety of activities. Music, drama, sports are all things that she has participated in. This year it has been volleyball and basketball that have gotten her interest. This spring she will once again be on a White Bear area softball team where she plays the very challenging position of catcher. It has been quite rewarding to watch her progression from one year to the next as she becomes more skillful in all of these sports activities. Hannah’s friends are very important to her. Whether she is in her neighborhood at home or at school, you seldom see Hannah where she is not in the middle of a group of girls having fun together.
